God Moments

God momentsBut we ought always to thank God for you, brothers and sisters loved by the Lord, because God chose you as first fruits to be saved through the sanctifying work of the Spirit and through belief in the truth.

Sunday isn’t my usual posting day, but it is Lent and I received this passage this morning and it I felt led to post. When I get reminders of God’s choosing me (and you) I feel proud. Not the overbearing I deserve it proud, but the I feel loved proud and want to do everything I can to make God proud of his choice. We are His first fruits and are given the honor of planting the seeds for future fruits.

In this passage, Paul lets us know again that it was God’s initiative and He worked through the Holy Spirit’s gentleness and Jesus’ love to open our hearts to his love and message. We can work the same way as we meet people on our journey. Other’s need to know God, too. We first need to pray for God to start to work in their lives and look for those times when we are aware of an opening. If we use these moment to talk to them about God, they will have a chance to respond to God. It makes us a vessel of God’s word; he will do the hard work. Use Lent and look for God moments. Plant new seeds for God to nurture and blossom into new fruits.

Lord, make us aware of those moments that we are a vessel to fellowship with your chosen people. Help us to witness in a gentle and loving way with the help of the Holy Spirit and Jesus’ teachings.
